OrgChart is for TREE structure
OrgChart is not designed for matrix organizational chart?
We designed the OrgChart app to help the users creating the TREE structure organizational chart quickly and efficiently by avoiding drawing.
For the case, if your organization chart is majorly a tree structure, and only very few people are in multiple departments. If you don’t want to use a drawing app to create the chart, using OrgChart, we’d recommend you to make the people with multiple units. Like following the example, a secretary works for two directors.
Some leaders spent too much time creating the organization charts to introduce the team and update it frequently to make it suitable for the different meetings, when presenting it to the customers, new visitors, the boss, and the team.
They used the drawing apps (like the PPT, Visio) to create the organization chart before, as there is no standard for the organization chart. There is no way for the computer to help draw ALL the possible types of organization charts automatically.
For the TREE structure organizational chart, we found a way to help users automatically draw and layout the departments - that’s what the OrgChart app does. The user needs only to set some properties of the departments. Then the OrgChart app helps to render (draw) the chart automatically.
Suppose the organization chart is NOT a tree structure. In that case, the OrgChart app (the computer, and even for a human) has no way to know how to render the chart as expected in the user’s mind. We have to use a drawing app to draw the matrix organization chart.
